Praying with Christians against Poverty (CAP)
'We are passionate about releasing people from a life sentence of poverty, debt, unemployment and addiction. Working with the Church we bring good news, hope and freedom to people in the UK.' This vision is shared by many in the local church and the Centre has been pivotal in meeting the desperate needs of those struggling with debt and poverty in the Welwyn Hatfield area. Panshanger Church is the partner church, and Welwyn Garden City URC continues to provide a relaxed community space, for additional client support, which is done on behalf of Churches in Welwyn Garden City. Recent staff changes at the debt Centre have provided Panshanger Church with the opportunity to appoint a new debt Centre manager and provide continuity of debt help services. Please pray that the right person is found as the Centre steps into a new season. We give thanks for the many lives that have been changed by this expression of faith in action - many brought out of debt, families held together which may otherwise have split, several people becoming involved in local churches and community activities. We pray that they will come to faith as they journey with us. We pray for the financial and human resources for this work to continue, for the many people in the area still desperately in need of the kind of help CAP can provide, and for the support the local teams need to cope with the demands of this work.
